Save Our Water!

Do you know that each year, our water gets wasted? You can make a big difference to help save our Earth’s water! Water is a resource used by plants, animals, and people to survive. Water is used for many purposes. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to live! If there wasn’t fresh water, animals, plants, birds, sea animals, and humans would die. Kids like you can make a big difference by simply trying to protect this resource at home. If everyone made a small effort, we could save a lot of water!
In the passage, it says, “To get an idea of how much water we could save if we made a small effort, think about this. What if every person across the nation flushed their toilets one time less every day? Together they could save enough water to fill a lake as large as a mile wide and long and four feet in depth!” Now you know why it is important to save water. Do your part and help change our world!
There are many ways you can help save water. The most common way is when you are washing your hands, don’t leave the water running. Instead, turn the water off. Use soap and make bubbles, then turn on the water to rinse your hands and dry them off. When you brush your teeth, turn the faucet on to wet your toothbrush and toothpaste. Turn it on again after you have finished brushing to rinse your mouth. Do you know that baths use about 37 gallons of water? You should not waste the water. Take short showers and use about only 20 gallons. There are many ways to help save our earth! Even if you are only doing one thing each day to conserve water, you’re doing the right thing!
