Breaking News!
People have been talking about Ebola ever since it was a breakthrough in Africa. They have been talking about how deadly it is and panicked about the effects of Ebola. Researchers have been trying to find a cure for Ebola, and up till now there is no real cure.
Now there appears to be a breakthrough in the form of a safe vaccine that in initial trials has proven to be extremely effective in eliminating the risk of contracting the dreaded disease.
Developed by researchers in Canada, the VSV-EBOV currently seems to be the vaccine that has been sponsored and administered in a single-dose to 7,651 residents to three countries in the center of the disease outbreak: Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
New vaccines are tested against “fake cures” to determine if they work. But for the Ebola vaccine, researchers decided to use the “ring” method because Ebola can spread; it’s contagious.
“Used in the fight against smallpox in the 1970’s, it is an attempt to curtail the virus by vaccinating the “ring” of people who have come in contact with an infected person.” said Dogo News.
People were divided into two groups, one which people were immediately exposed to the Ebola virus, and the second one second group also received the vaccination, but after three weeks, the maximum period it takes for Ebola to incubate. That was how people were tested for this new vaccine.
This has given Africa hope. Researchers will continue to improvise this vaccine and to find a cure for Ebola one day. As researchers keep working, they will use their methods to test the vaccine. We will one day have the cure for Ebola.
